Young Mercy Leaders' Pilgrimage to Dublin - July 2023
"To watch the learners grapple with social justice issues in such a mature way as well as realising that Catherine McAuley was a human being with struggles and hopes just like them, was truly remarkable" Sarah Terry, St Teresa's School Rosebank, South Africa.
In June 2023, students from Belize, South Africa and America participated in Mercy International Association's annual Young Mercy Leaders' Programme.
Highlights from this year's pilgrimage included a thought-provoking workshop on "Catherine and Justice", immersive workshops on mindfulness and developing resilience, a walking tour and quiz on Catherine's Dublin, a workshop on Science and Religion from a Mercy Perspective, a discussion on Catherine and Leadership and a talk on social justice advocacy with Mercy Global Action.
Through this varied programme the Young Mercy Leaders were brought on a journey to discover: What does it mean to be a Young Mercy Leader in 2023?
Commenting on the programme, Sr. Patricia O'Donovan declared "It was encouraging and inspiring to see so many Young Mercy Leaders from all around the world in Catherine's House this week engaging on the critical concerns of Mercy. The future of Mercy is in their hands - A Future full of hope!"
