Episode Two

Our guest for our second episode is Sr. Berneice Loch rsm from Australia. She joined the Sisters of Mercy in Rockhampton in 1964.  Initially a teacher of Maths, Science, and Religion, most of her ministry has been in administrative positions.

From 2011 to 2017 Berneice was leader of the newly formed Institute of Sisters of Mercy of Australia and Papua New Guinea and before that had two terms as Congregation Leader in Rockhampton. She is very interested in the future Governance of Catholic ministries and has a conviction that lay people are being called to leadership at all levels in these ministries.  Berneice feels privileged to have worked with the leaders of three other Mercy Congregations to establish “Mercy Partners”, a pontifical Ministerial Public Juridic Person.

Berneice is also a former CEO of Mercy International Association.

Berneice spoke to Brenda about her life and ministry and shared some of her memories of her time as CEO of Mercy International Association.

She also reflected on the great trust that Catherine McAuley had in young people. She also spoke about the place of kindness and hope in our world and even shared the cúpla focal (a few words) In Irish.
