Sister Edia “Tita” Lopez is a member of the Prophetic Voice Commission of the Caribbean, Central America and South America Community of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas. She lives in Panama, where she ministers with the Ngabe-Bugle people.

In February 2019 her ministry was featured in Global Sisters Report, which is available in English. She has shared a brief update of that work and also provided a 1-minute video on her ministry with youth.

Hermana Edia López es miembro de la Comisión de Voz Profética de la Comunidad de las Hermanas de la Misericordia de las Américas del Caribe, Centroamérica y Sudamérica. Vive en Panamá, donde ejerce su ministerio con el pueblo Ngäbe-Buglé.

En febrero de 2019 su ministerio fue presentado en el Global Sisters Report, que está disponible en inglés. Ella compartió una breve actualización de ese trabajo y también ofreció un video de 1 minuto sobre su ministerio con los jóvenes.

Con la invitación del Papa Francisco para el cuidado de la Casa Común, y actuar como los protectores de la Madre Tierra, actualmente estoy apoyando a los jóvenes en el área de Tierras Altas de la provincia de Chiriquí en mi país, para un proceso de formación integral donde ellos puedan acercarse a su identidad realmente, de población indígena y rescatar la cultura de manera que puedan tomar conciencia y participar en procesos como ciudadanos de este país, y participar de los espacios de la toma de decisión. Así que en este momento es lo que estoy realizando como un ministerio de justicia.  Muchísimas gracias.

Based on the invitation of Pope Francis to care for our Common Home, and to act as the protectors of our Mother Earth, I am currently supporting young people in the Highlands area of the Province of Chiriquí in my country, for an integral formation process where they can really get closer to [embracing] their identity as an indigenous population and dignify their own culture so that they can become aware and participate in processes as [rightful] citizens of this country, and even participate in the processes of decision-making. So right now this is what I am doing as a minister of justice. Many thanks.

Que estoy acompañando al Movimiento Abraham Montezuma, para seguir pidiendo justicia por la actuacion inconsulta de Gobierno en la caso de la Construcción del Proyecto de Barro Blanco. 

Siguen las conversaciones y dialogo, hay programada una reunión en Enero ( 16_18) con el Presidente y su gabinete de asuntos  Indigenas, el lugar sera ali en el campamento. Hay que ver el resultado de esta reunión. 

Esta foto fue de ayer cuando estuve en el campamento. Ellos van a una reunion de alianza a la capital y les apoyaba con algo de recursos para el transporte.

I am accompanying the Abraham Montezuma Movement, to continue demanding justice for the government's unsolicited action in the case of the construction of the Barro Blanco Project. The conversations and dialogue continue.

There is a meeting scheduled for January (16-18) with the President and with his cabinet on Indigenous affairs.  It will be held there in their encampment. This photo was from yesterday when I was in the camp. They are going to an alliance meeting in the capital and I supported them by providing some resources for transportation.
