International Good Cup of Tea Event

In her last moments, Catherine McAuley directed that the Sisters would have a good cup of tea together in the community room, after she had gone. Between 24 September and 12 December (the Season of Mercy), Mercy groups throughout the world are invited to join an international 'Good Cup of Tea' event. By supporting this event, you are helping Mercy International Association to keep the founding spirit of Catherine alive today.

International Good Cup of Tea Event

Background

The International Good Cup of Tea Event was first held when people across the Mercy world were invited to support Mercy International Association on Friday 11/11/11. The aim was to celebrate the life and legacy of Catherine McAuley and to raise funds for the ongoing work of Mercy International Association.

Heritage Room Upgrade

Funds raised at the 2020 Good Cup of Tea events will contribute to the Heritage Room upgrade. The intention is to redesign the room with the use of fixed panels to extend the display area available and enable more of the early story of Mercy to be told through the displays. The panels are to include a number of touch screens, allowing some of the heritage resources from the different Mercy Congregations worldwide to be show-cased. These pandemic days have emphasised for us the importance of making the rich Mercy heritage available to those unable to visit the Centre in person. Enhancing this capacity will be central to the re-design.
