The Federation of the Sisters of Mercy was founded in 1969. Each Community retains its original independence under the administration of an appointed leader.

The Sisters in the Federation now number 103. The member houses are:

- Gravesend, Kent
- Midhurst, West Sussex
- Sunderland, Tyne and Wear
- Woodley, Berkshire

In order to exchange ideas, hopes and aspirations, the Sisters of the Federation meet at regular intervals under an elected President.
