Software Requirements:
Q: Do I need any particular software installed in order to view the
CD Rom?

The appropriate installers are included on the CD Rom and the program will
prompt you if installation is required.
Screen Resolution:
Q: The picture on the computer screen is very small. Is there any way
of making it bigger?
To maximise the size of the application on your screen, you will
need to adjust your screen's resolution. Follow these instructions, depending
on the operating system you are running:
Win XP/2000/98
Right-click on the desktop. Display Properties should appear. Click
on the Settings Tab. An option should appear titled Screen resolution(XP)
or Screen area(2000/98). Note the resolution the screen is currently
set to, because you may wish to return to this setting after
viewing Mercy and Justice Shall Meet. Select 800 by 600
pixels by dragging the slider. You may need to press OK. Your
screen
will
flash
and
resize,
and you may be asked if you would like to keep this setting.
Click Yes.
Mac OS 9.2
Select the Apple Menu in the corner of the screen. Select Control
Panels, and then Monitors. A panel should appear with a section
titled Resolution. Note the resolution the screen is currently
set to, because you may wish to return to this setting after
viewing MAJSM. Now select 800 x 600 (there may be several Hz
options - experiment with these until you find the best option
for your monitor). Your screen will flash and should automatically
resize at the new resolution. You may be asked to confirm your
selection. Don't worry if the screen stays black, it should revert
to the original resolution after several seconds. Now you can
close the window and start Mercy and Justice Shall Meet.
Mac OS X
Select the apple menu in the corner of the screen. Select System
Preferences. Click on Displays in the Hardware section. A Display
Window should appear with a section titled Resolutions. Note
the resolution the screen is currently set to, because you may
wish to return to this setting after viewing Mercy and Justice
Shall Meet. Now select 800 x 600 (there may be several Hz options
- experiment with
these until you find the best option for your monitor). Your
screen will flash and should automatically resize at the new
resolution. You may be asked to confirm your selection. Don't
worry if the screen stays black, it should revert to the original
resolution after several seconds. Now you can close the window
and start Mercy and Justice Shall Meet.

one copy of the Mercy and Justice Shall meet CD Rom solely for
backup purposes. Purchasers must reproduce, on any such copy, all

Licences:
Q: What is the difference between a single user and a multi user
licence?
A multi-user licence entitles the purchaser to use Mercy and Justice
Shall Meet on all work stations within a network on one site only
eg: a school campus.
A single
user licence entitles the purchaser to use Mercy and Justice
Shall Meet on one computer only.
Information about the purchase of a multi user licence is available
on the order forms.
Q. When more than one user tries to operate the CD-ROM on the network, the following error appears: 'Unable to open file ...\main.dxr because it is already open with write permission by another user.'
PC ONLY
The CD-ROM needs to be set to read-only on the network, to be accessable by more than one user. To do this, do the following:
Right click on the MAJSM folder on the network. Select Read-Only (we need the Apply button to be active, so if it is already selected, deselect and then select it). Select Apply . You should then be asked if you wish to apply this change to Subfolders and files as well. Select Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files. The CD-ROM should now allow multiple users.
Video
Q. None of the video clips within each story will
play even though the soundtrack is working as is the English/Spanish
text. I can
only see black where the video should be (or perhaps still frames
from the video).
There may be a conflict between Mercy and Justice Shall Meet
and your video adapter or your video driver. You can reduce the
Graphics Hardware Acceleration setting as one troubleshooting step
to determine if there is an issue with your video adapter or your
video driver.
To reduce the graphics hardware acceleration setting, follow the
appropriate steps for your version of Windows:
Win XP/2000/98/ME
Right-click on the desktop, and select Properties. Display
Properties
should appear. Click on the Settings Tab. Select Advanced. A tab
should appear titled Troubleshoot(XP) or Troubleshooting(2000)
or Performance(98/ME). Inside this tab should be a slider titled
Hardware acceleration. Set this to None. Select OK, and OK again.
Illegal Operation error
Q. An ‘Illegal
Operation’ error
appears soon after the MAJSM logo appears. ‘DirectSound.X32’ is
mentioned in this error.
PC ONLY(not Mac)
This CD-ROM at a minimum requires DirectX version 5. Most computers
within the minimum specifications will have this, however there
are exceptions – usually computers running Win 98. The way
to check what version of DirectX you’re running is by doing
the following:
Click the Start button, and select Run. Type DXdiag and press
enter. A window may pop up asking if you with a yes or no
option. select Yes. After a moment or two, a window titled
DirectX Diagnostic Tool should appear. Somewhere near the bottom
of this window should
be the words ‘DirectX version:’ This is where
we’ll
find whether the version of DirectX you have installed is less
than version 5. If it is, or if DXdiag didn’t even open,
you need to install the latest version of DirectX. You can do this
by going to: www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/downloads/default.asp and
following the prompts.
